How to care for printed and embroidered workwear
Follow the instructions supplied for the finished item. The garment and its decoration both matter; no single wash routine fits every uniform.
Tell us how the uniform will be cleaned
Laundry requirements belong in the brief. Tell us if your team uses a commercial laundry, high-temperature cycles, bleach or a workplace-specific cleaning process before choosing the garment and decoration.
This is especially important for healthcare uniforms. A decorated scrub top is not automatically suitable for every facility’s laundering policy. Have the relevant workplace requirements checked against the garment and decoration before ordering.
For printed apparel, follow the supplied transfer guidance
As one manufacturer example, STAHLS’ recommends cold washing and low tumble drying or hanging for UltraColor Max. That does not establish the care instructions for every transfer or garment. Use the guidance supplied with your actual order.
Avoid substituting a general internet wash-count promise for your item’s instructions. Fabric, application, print coverage and laundering can all affect how a finished item performs. Ask before using a process outside the agreed care guidance.
Thread and fabric both affect embroidery care
Madeira advises checking the garment care label and the laundering guidance for the thread. It also cautions against leaving wet embroidered pieces folded together. Your actual item may have additional requirements.
Do not pull a loose thread or use a hot iron directly on an unfamiliar decoration. Contact the studio with a photo if you see a change you are unsure how to handle. For caps and patches, ask for their specific cleaning instructions.
Make care part of your team handover
Keep the order specification and care guidance together. Give each employee the instructions when you issue their uniform, and keep an accessible copy for replacements.
If there is a problem, record when it appeared, the wash and drying process used, and the affected items. Send clear photos and the order reference. This gives the studio useful information to assess the issue without guessing.
